LindaWhat is Reiki used for?

Many people turn to Reiki when other types of treatment have failed them, or when when they desire a less invasive approach to healing. People have expressed healing of chronic pains that had not been cured by traditional medicine.

Often people report that they feel a deep sense of relaxation after Reiki. Some people report tingling, energetic feelings in the area where the practitioner’s hands are working, feeling heat or cold from the hands, and even seeing a variety of colors, or a feeling of floating off of the table.

Other people have experienced relief of anxiety and/or depression. Depression is usually best treated over a period of time, once a week, or more often during a crisis. Others have reported sudden bursts of deep insight into their lives, with future directions becoming clear. Some people have described these insights as “stepping into their power”.

Reiki may be done long distance over the phone by a qualified practitioner.

What is Reiki?

In Japanese “Rei” means universal spiritual consciousness. “Ki” means life force, or energy, which in Chinese is known as “Chi”. Together they mean spiritually guided life energy. Reiki is a form of light touch, healing energy work. It may be done in person or long distance by a qualified practicioner. Usui Reiki came about in the late 1800’s in Japan, founded by Dr. Mikao Usui. He studied Buddhist and Japanese forms of healing.

Reiki is passed from a Master Teacher to the student in the form of what are called attunements.  There are a series of levels, from level 1 to Master Teacher.

Karuna Reiki is an advanced training course offered only to Reiki Masters. It was developed by William Rand, and is the “Reiki of compassion”.

Reiki Therapy is not a substitute for an evaluation from your medical doctor. Linda is not a trained psychologist.

How does Reiki work?

HandsWe are made of energy, so Reiki works to enhance our energy field. Our energy field is also known as Rei, Ki, Chi, or Prana. Part of our energy field is along a meridian down the center of our body. It is known as our chakra system. Our aura is energy that goes out and around our body. Our energy field is that which animates our bodies. When our energy field is depleted, well, simply, we die.

The balanced flow of our energy field is what makes us healthy. Reiki is a form of spiritual healing. When our energy is disrupted, it can cause decreased functioning within one or more of our organs and tissues. Our energy is sensitive to our thoughts and feelings. We have more energy when our thoughts and feelings are positive. Our energy field is very sensitive to our increased stress levels.

Reiki addresses energy blockages, and assists them to clear out so that the energy can flow more smoothly. It raises the vibratory level in and around the body so that the energy can flow in a more natural way.

What is “Reiki Therapy”?

Reiki Therapy is a blend of techniques that I have developed to help people get well.

  1. Reiki Energy Work – hands on transmission of energy for healing.
  2. Reiki Massage – massage along meridians for painful areas with Reiki energy.
  3. Life Coaching – based on Linda’s Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner Training, and 7 years as a psychiatric nurse. Often pain has a psychological component and through compassionate support the root of the pain is reached and dissolved.
  4. Nutritional Guidance – often pain is related to our traditional modern diet. Some simple dietary changes can make a huge difference in the level of pain.
  5. Pain and symptom management recommendations – based on Linda’s 27 years experience as a Registered Nurse, 10 years of work with Hospice patients’ symptom control issues and 5 years as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (C.H.P.N.).
  6. Referrals – to other Eastern and Western health care providers as needed.
  7. Chakra balancing – Chakras are seven subtle energy centers along the midline area of the body.
  8. Muscle testing – as necessary and/or desired.
  9. Long distance phone healing – when we cannot be in a session in the same place.
